The Fund Manager adopts an investment philosophy shaped by the extensive experience of Ubhar Capital’s Asset Management team across its investment portfolios. This philosophy combines a dynamic blend of approaches, including both bottom-up and top-down analysis, with the flexibility to shift emphasis between the two as market conditions evolve.
Ubhar Capital is an active manager focused on delivering superior risk-adjusted returns. The team manages three funds, including the Gheras Endowment Investment Fund, which invests in Sharia-compliant listed securities (such as equities and sukuk). The Fund also invests in other Sharia-compliant financial instruments and assets, in line with the Fund’s endowment investment policy, with the objective of achieving long-term capital growth and generating income for the Fund—benefiting endowment institutions and trustees in their capacity as unit holders—while maintaining appropriate risk-mitigation measures. The team also manages advisory mandates and a range of discretionary portfolio assignments.
The team currently manages discretionary portfolios for a broad base of local, regional, and international institutional clients, including government pension funds, sovereign funds, banks, central banks, listed companies, and high-net-worth individuals. The team also partners with best-in-class global asset managers to deliver tailored solutions for investments beyond the Middle East and North Africa, covering a range of equity and fixed-income products. Ubhar Capital’s Asset Management team comprises five professionals, supported both directly and indirectly by the firm’s other divisions, including relationship management, operations, and research.
Ubhar Capital is a full-service investment firm regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA). It was established in January 2017 through the acquisition of the Investment Management Group of Oman Arab Bank and further expanded in June 2020 through the acquisition of Gulf Baader Capital Markets SAOC.
