The Gheras Endowment Investment Fund was established to address a key need in the waqf sector: the effective investment and growth of endowment assets. Led by the Imam Jabir bin Zaid Endowment Foundation, the Fund is the first open-ended endowment investment fund of its kind in the Sultanate of Oman, operating through an institutional and regulated framework.
The Fund provides endowments with streamlined access to Sharia-compliant investment opportunities, including Islamic money markets, sukuk, and income-generating real estate investment funds. It also offers a temporary endowment option, enabling donors to recover the principal after a specified period while maintaining the investment returns as a permanent endowment, supporting sustainable long-term benefits for beneficiaries.
Stakeholder engagement has played an important role in advancing this initiative, and the Fund’s early investment outcomes have aligned with its planned objectives.
